- BESS index 2h includes all active assets with duration less than 4 hours.
- BESS index 4h includes all active assets with duration greater than or equal to 4 hours.
BESS Profitability Index
- Collection of the daily revenues for each operational asset on the different markets (DAM, IM, XBID, ASM, BM).
- Computation of the average revenues on each market by:
- For each asset, calculating the normalized revenues on each market [€/MW].
- Normalizing daily into yearly revenues by multiplying by 365 [€/MW/y].
- Counting the active assets in the specific day on the wholesale (DAM, IM, XBID) and ancillary services markets (MSD, MB)*.
- Calculating the average wholesale and ancillary service revenues over the daily active assets [€/MW/y].
- The Elemens BESS Profitability Index (BPI) is the sum of each market average revenue.
- The Elemens BESS Profitability Index is also available with different time granularities: six-monthly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly, computed as the average of the daily Elemens BESS Profitability Index.
* In wholesale markets, assets are considered active if they have at least one accepted offer. Conversely, for ancillary services markets, assets that place offers in the markets are considered active.
MGP Index
The daily MGP index represents the revenues (k€/MW/y) achievable by a BESS operating exclusively on the MGP market (PUN reference prices). The results are obtained by simulating a battery operating in the market which starts every day with zero charge with 85% RtE.
The weekly, monthly, quarterly, and six-monthly indexes are the mean of the daily MGP index over the selected period.
MGP SPREAD 1h, MGP SPREAD 2h, and MGP SPREAD 4h are respectively the difference between the daily highest, two highest, and four highest prices and the daily lowest, two lowest, and four lowest prices.
